With Amma recovering, fans gift golden, silver masks to temple
Mysuru: As Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health condition is improving, her fans have offered golden and silver masks to Lord Anjaneya and Lord Ganapthi in Chamundeshwari temple. They also performed special puja to the presiding deity at the temple.
Jayalalithaa, a native of Mandya district, on many occasions, had visited Chamundeshwari Temple and offered puja. She had also offered puja before the state went to polls in 2012.
AIADMK workers who were keeping their fingers crossed for more than a month after Amma fell ill, have something to cheer now after hospital authorities stated that Jayalalithaa is fast recovering.
They presented a golden mask weighing 4,710 grams and a 15-kg silver mask to Lord Anjaneya. While 1,689 grams golden mask and 1,689 grams silver mask were presented to Ganapathi idol. The worth of the donations is more than Rs 1.5 crore.
The temple priests decorated the idols with golden masks and offered special puja.
Temple chief priest Shashidhar Dixit said Jayalalithaa is a devotee of Chamundeshwari. He said Jayalalithaa fans regularly visit the temple and hold special pujas for her good health.
